State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, PhDr. Ján Oravec, CSc., accepted the invitation of the Chairman of the Board of Cassovia New Industry Cluster, prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., and together with his delegation visited CNIC on the last weekend of August. The meeting took place at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. The guests from the ministry were welcomed by the rector of UPJŠ, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc.

The goal of the CNIC project is to create a modern, knowledge-based industry and significantly improve the economic and social situation in the region of eastern Slovakia.

Global significant progress in the fields of biomedicine, progressive materials, green and clean technologies, or quantum and information technologies is closely linked to the production and management of big data and application of artificial intelligence. Therefore, the CNIC project also strives to embed supercomputer in the emerging ecosystem.

Considering the multi-sector nature of CNIC, the meeting of Members of the Board of CNIC and leaders of MH Teplárenský holding with the delegation of the state secretary Ján Oravec was aimed at following up on the ongoing negotiations with the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, the Government Office and the European Commission’s representation in Slovakia.

“With the visit of Mr. Oravec, we incorporated an important sector – industry – in CNIC. That highlighted the complexity of our project, which responds to the current dynamic development of society influenced by the rapid development and application of technologies. Successful implementation of CNIC will allow all of us to “become part of this story,” said Pavol Miškovský, Chairman of the CNIC Board, after the visit of the State Secretary.
