CNIC WAS PRESENTED TO THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION

The CNIC project was presented to the delegation of the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr. Daren Tang, during his visit to Košice.

The meeting, which took place at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Biosciences, was attended by the rector of UPJŠ in Košice, prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., Mgr. Roman Oros, head of CNIC Business and Marketing Department, Assoc. prof. JUDr. Renáta Bačárová, PhD., head of CNIC Technology Transfer Center, and Assoc prof. RNDr. Erik Sedlák, DrSc., head of Centre for Interdisciplinary Biosciences.

Prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., chairman of the Board of Directors of CNIC and director of the UPJŠ Technology and Innovation Park in Košice, made a presentation to the WIPO delegation and representatives of the Slovak Industrial Property Office on the CNIC’s research and application programs and its vision for the creation of a new, knowledge-based industry in the region of eastern Slovakia.

Director General Tang was extremely interested in the CNIC project, which was reflected in the fruitful discussion that followed. Mr. Tang especially appreciated the PickMolTMtechnology of the Saftra photonics company created within the framework of CNIC, which is able to identify presence of trace amounts of pesticides in water and assess the quality of production in the food industry. His interest in this technology was confirmed by a direct offer to include the presentation of this technology in the WIPO portfolio.
