The team from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Biosciences at the Technology and Innovation Park of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, led by doc. RNDr. Erik Sedlák, DrSc., was nominated for the Košice Region Innovation Awards 2023 in the category of the best scientist/scientific team in the Košice Region. The award was presented to the CIB TIP-UPJŠ team by prof. RNDr. Pavol Sovák, CSc., the rector of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, during a ceremonial gala evening on May 3, 2023, at Kunsthalle Košice.

CIB TIP-UPJŠ was nominated for this prestigious award due to its outstanding publication activities and successful grant projects in the field of European projects as well as structural funds projects. These initiatives enable the scientific staff at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Biosciences to educate a new generation of scientists and conduct research that benefits not only eastern Slovakia but also beyond.

This first year of the award aims to recognize individuals, teams, and organizations that significantly enhance the innovative potential of the Košice Region, thus contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.
