Kick Off meeting of the CassTech project, organized by the Cassovia New Industry Cluster (CNIC) from 27 to 29 June 2022 in Horný Smokovec, hosted representatives of Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, Technical University in Košice, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Košice Self-Governing Region, City of Košice, Louis Pasteur University Hospital and representatives of the private sector. The panel discussion and roundtable were also attended by representatives of the Government of the Slovak Republic.

During the first day, the topic of particular interest was that of the transformation of industry and society in the region of East Slovakia through technological development represented by CNIC and contribution of the supercomputer, which together in synergy would influence the future shape of the region.

“Collaborations between CNIC and industrial partners set up so far point to the need to create a competitive technological environment in the region of East Slovakia strongly linked to other developed EU regions. Through new forms of modern industry, synergies will be created between the scientific research environment, which is a carrier of values and advanced technologies, and industry. The CassTech project is to contribute to bringing universities and institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences closer to industry,” said prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., Chairman of the Board of CNIC and Director of the CassTech project.

The following day of the conference centred around the development of the region of East Slovakia, and featured the presentation of the individual technology centres of the Cassovia New Industry Cluster, their scientific and technological focus, and meetings between CNIC specialists and leading representatives of high-tech domestic and foreign industry.
