CNIC General Assembly Meeting

On June 1st, 2022 a CNIC General Assembly Meeting took place in the historical hall of the UPJŠ Rectorate in Košice. The meeting, chaired by Dr. h. c. prof. h. c. prof. Ing. Stanislav Kmeť, DrSc., rector of TUKE, was attended by representatives of CNIC’s partners – Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Technical University in Košice, University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice, City of Košice, Košice Self-Governing Region, Cassovia Discovery Park, Slovak Academy of Sciences, and Louis Pasteur University Hospital.

Since at the constituent General Assembly Meeting in 2021 the length of the Chairperson’s term of office was determined by consensus to be valid until the next General Assembly Meeting, Prof. Kmeť invited the representatives of the member organisations present to elect a new Chairperson. Dr. h. c. prof. MVDr. Jana Mojžišová, PhD., rector of UVMP, was elected a new Chairperson of the CNIC General Assembly for the period of one year.

The Chairperson of the CNIC Board of Directors, prof. RNDr. Pavol Miškovský, DrSc., presented the CNIC Annual Report along with the Financial Statements for 2021, describing the scientific, economic and organizational activities of CNIC carried out since the last General Assembly Meeting, and proposed plans for further development of CNIC.

The discussion that followed featured the topic of installing a supercomputer based on Tachyum original technology in Košice, which is to be involved within the CNIC ecosystem. This would significantly accelerate the development of new industry by means of joint activities of CNIC, Tachyum and other industrial partners, which would lead to a significant increase in the level of competitiveness of the East Slovak region.

During the eight months of functioning of the CNIC consortium, we have been able to commence all important processes so that 2022 marks the real launch of CNIC operation in all planned areas of its activities,” said the Chairperson of the CNIC Board of Directors, Prof. Pavol Miškovský, after the CNIC General Assembly Meeting.
